‘‘EVERY ADVENTURE REQUIRES A FIRST STEP’’

Hey there! First of all thanks for stopping by.

So here is a little introduction about me.

I grew up in Queensbury, Bradford in West Yorkshire UK. I was into most things sporty when I was young, cricket, rugby, football was the things I usually did at school but wasn’t really something I was hooked on. Then one day I saw snowboarding on the TV when I was 6 years old, I remember thinking this was something i’d love to try and get into. Luckily we was not too far away from a snowflex slope in Halifax and this is where my snowboarding journey begins. I was 7 years old when I first started having lessons at Halifax dry slope, it wasn’t long until I felt like I found something that I wanted to stick at. I then spent most of my childhood riding the small slope of halifax in the evenings after school. I will always remember that first grab I did on the small jump on the main slope and how amazing it felt, which instantly hooked me to the sport.

Fast forward some years at the age of 15, I got selected to ride for Team GB and this is where my journey competing at World Cup level begins and then go on to compete at two Winter Olympics for GB. I won’t dive too much into this yet as I feel like maybe a book one day might be cool to tell my story but for now I’ll leave it at this.

I guess learning to snowboard on a plastic hill though never really held me back, my passion for snowboarding is what drove me and it was always so natural. I never remember saying to myself, i’m doing this because I want to go to the olympics and win loads of medals or even travel the world snowboarding. All these things fell into place naturally because I loved snowboarding and to me it didn’t really even matter what surface it was on as long as I was riding, I was happy. This still stands today 24 years on. The journey continues…
